About

Torehytta Mountain Lodge is situated 1330 masl in Hardangervidda National Park, at the foot of Hårteigen Mountain (1690 masl). It takes about two days to hike from Kinsarvik, or from Hjølmodalen (Eidfjord), Trondsbu (Eidfjord),  Ringedalen (Tyssedal), or Middalsbu (Røldal). Torehytta is operated by the Norwegian Trekking Association/Oslo. It is a self service lodge with 24 beds. Self service implies that the visitors themselves are responsible for cooking, cleaning, fetching water and keeping things tidy. There is food supply for sale, visitors do not have to bring any food. Payment is according to a price list (cash or by filling in a form with payment details). The Norwegian Trekking Association’s universal key is necessary to enter the lodge.

Note that Hardangervidda is snow free in July and August, and hiking during the rest of the year is hazardous. Always check the weather forecast before hiking in Hardangervidda. Bring warm clothes (also in summer), and never go without a topographical hiking map and compass. In most areas of Hardangervidda there is no mobile phone coverage.
